This is one of the Neptilucidae. A group of 70 or so (in the UK) tiny moths that are very difficult to identify on their external appearance. Their genitalia are reasonably distinctive and are frequently used to identify the adult moths.

Wood mite134 viewsI am not really sure what this animal is. I have always called them wood mites. I find them runnning about on dry, seasoned timber in my wood store.
Killed and dried with IPA and mounted in euparal in the same way that I mount Moth genitalia for identification purposes.
The image is a collage of 5 focus staked segments. About 50 shots used in all.
