| Logging in |
|
Your Albums in the Microscopy Gallery are reachable via
the front page of Microscopy-uk or Micscape Magazine or through clicking on the members button on the page
here at http://www.microscopy-uk.net/
You should see a screen like this:-
Click on the Log-in button of the gallery window to log-in (marked above in yellow!)
This will take you to the Log-on screen below. Enter the username and password used when you first registered in
the boxes provided - see yellow outline in example below! To save keep putting the username and password in every
time you visit the portfolio area, check (click) the 'remember me' box - see yellow arrow below!
Once you have done this, click on the Log-in button - see yellow arrow in example below!

You should see a page like the one below.

You should see a screen like the example below. Before you
do anything else, click on the 'My Gallery' link (indicated here by the yellow arrow). Thiswill take you to your
existing albums in the gallery.

| You should get a screen like the one below but with your albums
showing and not mine! To begin uploading your images, click on the 'upload file' link - indicated below by the
yellow arrow. |

| Loading my first pics |

This is the load picture screen (see below).
You use the 'browse' buttons to find images on your pc (they must be .jpg files if they
are static images, or mpg, avi, if they are video clips). You can load several at a time by using each of the browse
buttons. The long boxes will fill with text relating to the directory and file names of the pictures on your pc.
Ignore the botton half of the screen relating to URI/URL uploads. You don't need these.

When you have your images and paths set in the entry boxes (by using 'browse'), you should see something like this.
See below!
Click on 'continue' in the upload screen to carry out the upload! But its not over yet... so beware!

If your images are too big (over 1Mbytes in file size or 1024 pixels on their longest side) you will get error
messages and some of your pics may not load. Like this below! Here 1 out of 2 files were okay though so I can continue
to commit the correctly sized image to the gallery. Click on the continue button to complete the upload!

You are then presented with a screen to describe each file you just uploaded. If you have more than 1 album in
the gallery, you can select the album in which your image will be placed by clicking on (1) in the image below!
Enter a short title name for the picture (2) and a desription of what the image is about (3). You can enter information
in the remaining boxes or not - as you please - but I advise you to at least enter your name as the copyright owner
and your email address. You must
not load images into the gallery unless they areyour coyright! Fill in the boxes and click continue to move to the next picture you uploaded etc., until they are
all done.
When you finish putting the description in for each picture,
you get the screen below. Click on the continue button. If you wish to load more pictures, then start the sequence
again AFTER you have clicked on 'continue' button by clicking on the 'my gallery' and then 'upload file' buttons.

| Deleting my pictures |

| To delete images from your gallery - first select your gallery
(after logging in) and click on the link 'My Gallery'. See below! |

| DO NOT CLICK ON 'Delete' as this will delete
your entire Album! Instead, click on EDIT FILES
as indicated below! |

| You will see a screen like the one below listing your images. |

| In each section against each image, check the Delete File box
for each image you wish to delete. Whem you have maked all the ones you want deleted, click on the apply modifications
button at the bottom of the screen. After the gallery applies your changes, you can click on 'My Gallery' link
atthe top of the page to leave the deletion screen. |

Image Size / File Size
Images must be in .jpg format. The file size
for each image should be 1Megbyte or less and 72 dpi.
Images must be no longer than 1024 pixels on their longest side.
Video clips must be 1 Megabyte or less in file size.
If you try to upload files with larger file size or image pixel size than these defaults, they will be rejected.
Each person with a space on this gallery has a space allotment of 10Megabytes. Most images will be around 100k
in size or smaller, which means each gallery contributor has approximately enough space to load 100 images into
their albums.
If your image is the wrong size or wrong DPI, you should use an image editor to make a smaller copy of your image
and load that one to your album in the gallery. |
